Same Difference

At SCORES, we strive to embrace and value diversity. We believe that our differences make each of us unique and special. In addition, we know that people can be both similar and different at the same time.

In our Same Differences lesson, students make art and poetry what makes them unique, what they are good at, and what they are proud of. The goal of this activity is for the author to explore the things that make them and their community special, important, and valuable. This collection of 10 poems shows us how these poet-athletes’ big hearts create joy through beautiful poetry.

  • Isabelle Tam Poetry: Moscone Alumni What is Art? Art is the creativeness and the imagination of a person. It comes in many forms. But art doesn’t always mean what it’s definition is. To some, it’s a bursting feeling of joy and contentment After a hard day. To others, it might just mean doodling a bunch of shapes And magically making a perfect photo But art is more than that. Art can express how a person is feeling. This, can also mean if a person is mad They do angry loops of feelings Art isn’t just drawing, though. It can be how an ornament loos on a shelf, Or how art is expressed in poems, Like this one. And, if you are bad at art, That doesn’t mean that you cannot become an artist. Even a scribble can be a piece of art. But when you don’t think your art is good enough, Just believe in yourself And try again. Never give up on your dreams.
